List of Anime Like Vinland Saga
11. Golden Kamuy
Former soldier Saichi Sugimoto is on a quest for the yellow metal. Sugimoto plans to fulfill his promise to help his best friend’s family, who was killed in the war between Japan and Russia.
In the midst of this, he meets a drunken man who tells him that he must collect the tattoos from the bodies of Abashiri prisoners to find hidden gold treasures. While traveling, he meets Asirpa, a young girl who shares the same objective. And the two of them wind up being companions on a dangerous treasure hunt.
Both of these shows are set in the past, based on true history, and are about fictional characters who go on adventures. The thing that connects these two is how well they describe things from their times.
10. 91 Days
91 days tells the tale of Angelo Lagusa, whose parents were murdered by the Vanetti Mafia Household in front of his eyes. After that, he changes his name and moves away, becoming known as Avilio Bruno.
But then he gets a letter telling him to return to his hometown, and everything changes. Bruno’s plans have shifted drastically now that he wants revenge.
Those who enjoyed Vinland Saga will enjoy 91 Days for its compelling characters and breathtaking visuals. The main character in 91 days, like the main character in Vinland Saga, is out for revenge against the people responsible for his parents’ deaths.
9. Goblin Slayer
Goblin Slayer features a significant historical aspect. The story sets in Europe and is about a man’s intense desire to eliminate goblins. After a group of these monsters slaughtered his loved ones, he made this decision.
Now, he’s joined by a young priestess who has never gone adventuring before and is the only one left from her group. They work together to kill every goblin that gets in their way.
Did you like the Vinland Saga because the protagonist grew into a formidable fighter despite starting so young? Goblin Slayer anime is similar. After suffering a terrible loss, our protagonist sets his mind and body on exacting vengeance.
8. Blade of the Immortal
As the title suggests, Blade of the Immortal follows the story of Manji, an immortal samurai who must face the repercussions of his immortality. All the horrible murders he’s committed in the past have led to this. Now he must slaughter another thousand men to free himself from this curse.
After meeting a young girl, Manji vows to exact bloody vengeance for the death of her parents. A series of unfortunate events leads to Manji’s involvement in violent battles.
Both Vinland Saga and Blade of the Immortal are historical dramas with MCs on a mission of vengeance. Another similarity is that both have a major violent conflict going on.
7. Yona of the Dawn
Young, overindulged Princess Yona is the protagonist of Yona of the Dawn. But when she loses everything, she appreciates it for what it was.
After everything that’s happened, Yona and her childhood friend Son Hak are determined to reclaim their kingdom. Yona learns the pains and struggles of her people on her journey.
Yona of the Dawn is based on Mizuho Kusanagi’s Japanese manga series Akatsuki no Yona. Like the Vinland Saga, Yona of the Dawn is rife with political retribution, betrayals, and conflicts. Furthermore, the music in the anime is stunning.
6. The Heroic Legend of Arslan
In The Heroic Legend of Arslan, the protagonist is a young prince named Arslan whose father was wronged by his most trusted general.
Because of this, the prince had to flee the castle and lead the life of a wanted man. Afterward, Arslan makes an oath to reclaim his kingdom. Along the way, he makes friends and allies he can count on.
While both Arslan and Vinland Saga are set in fictional worlds, the authors clearly drew inspiration from real-world events. Young male protagonists in both stories are wronged and, in their quest for retribution, become entangled in conflicts that are much bigger than themselves.
The story begins with Lixin and Piao, two best friends who are orphans because of the war. Xin joined the fighting after Piao enlisted in the King’s army and died. As Xin begins his quest to become China’s greatest general, he also learns more about himself.
Both series are about war and share a similar feel to them when it comes to the battle sequences. Shin and Thorfinn both have a strong will to win, which is another similarity.
4. Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan combines a fantasy story with action-packed scenes. Almost all of humanity has been wiped out by monsters known as Titans. All that’s left of that civilization has taken refuge inside a three-tiered wall. Eren, a lone survivor, teams up with elite soldiers as the Titans break through the defenses.
Both Attack on Titan and The Vinland Saga emphasize the critical nature of staying alive and the dread of being wiped out regularly. It’s not just up to Thorfinn; Eren does, too. The more interesting point is whether or not they will survive to the end.
Dororo centers on Hyakkimaru, a young man trying to use his artificial limbs and weapons to make it in this harsh world. He sets out on an epic journey as part of his mission to better himself and exact revenge on his enemies. Much bloodshed occurs in this anime, much like in Vinland Saga.
Both series’ main characters are set on a course of vengeance at a young age and become lethal combatants as a result. Hyakkimaru seeks revenge on his father, whereas Thorfinn seeks revenge to avenge his father.
Castlevania is a story about vengeance and the heroes who try to prevent the world’s destruction. It’s not technically anime, but it is inspired by a well-known Japanese video game. On top of that, the plot is very similar to Vinland Saga.
The story follows Dracula as he seeks revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife. He faces off against his son Alucard, a magician and monster hunter.
Fans of the series have been blown away by Castlevania’s top-notch visuals and animation, as well as its exaggerated combat simulations. Castlevania’s story and revenge plot won’t let you down. There are numerous intense battle scenes.
The world of Berserk is set in the Middle Ages when lust for violence and power consumed people. The main character, Guts’ life, is portrayed from his early days as a young mercenary to his present-day role as the feared “Black Swordsman,” the demon executioner.
Vinland Saga and Berserk have a lot in common, the most prominent being that they are both tales of vengeance. Both protagonists are on a killing spree because they feel they have been wronged. Additionally, both characters grew up right on the front lines of battle.
