Unfortunately, they attend a party where demons possess humans and turn their bodies into monsters. To save his friend, he had to merge with a devil named Amon, and with his sensitive heart, he awakens a new side of the devil.
It is an amazing anime like Tokyo Ghoul in terms of violent and dark themes. The main character also resembles Kaneki a lot since he is a ‘devilman‘ and Kaneki is a half-ghoul.
With a gripping supernatural premise and appealing action sequences, it is sure to entertain you a lot. So, make sure to watch this anime at least once, if not twice.
When alien creatures resembling parasites invade earth and take humans as hosts by burrowing into their brains, an attempt of a parasite fails to do so. Instead of taking a host of Shinichi’s whole body, it ends up taking possession of his right hand.
Although it doesn’t harm him, he must survive in a world where parasitic humans are hostile to him. Watch how Shinichi and humans try to coexist with the parasites.
In the whole list, Parasyte is by far the closest one to Tokyo Ghoul. Its premise, characters, and even the concept feel a lot similar. Shinichi and Kaneki both have a similarity in their forms.

3. Speed Grapher
The story follows Saiga, a war photographer who later works for a Hibara Ginza, a capitalist in Japan. One day, he successfully infiltrates the Roppongi club to unveil its mystery but gets caught.
When he was about to die, a 15-year-old girl kisses him resulting in awakening his ability to destroy everything he photographs. Later on, he finds out more about Kagura and realizes he involved himself in something he shouldn’t.
Yes, it isn’t at all like Tokyo Ghoul, but it is. Both the plots start variantly, but in the end, the concept matches. It is highly action-packed and gets darker as you go through the episodes.
Well, if you’re on a hunt for a similar anime to Tokyo Ghoul, then this one is right up your alley. So, make sure to give it a try.
4. Darker than Black
Years ago, a territory known as Hell’s Gate appeared in Tokyo, resulting in leaving special abilities to the people who later call themselves contractors. Shion Pavlichenko is one of the contractors with a normal life.
However, the gate also left false stars by replacing real people, and contractors are used as assassins and spies by various organizations. Can Shion, a contractor, and his twin sister Shou lead a normal life anymore?
Although the story might not involve creatures like Ghouls, it has other dark elements that are on par with Tokyo Ghoul. The storyline is pretty decent and executed thoughtfully.
If you’re looking for an anime like Tokyo Ghoul, you might as well add this one to your list since it has a lot of similarities to Tokyo Ghoul. After all, it is a similar anime to Tokyo Ghoul.
5. Deadman Wonderland
It was, as usual, a pleasant day for Ganta and his classmates. They even thought of going on a field trip to a prison amusement park famous for making convicts play deadly games. However, a mysterious person appears out of nowhere and massacres everyone except Ganta.
Ganta gets framed and sent to the same prison they were wishing to attend. Now he must survive in this prison by playing all types of deadly games, and also to clear his name by finding the mysterious man.
There are a lot of similarities between Deadman Wonderland and Tokyo Ghoul, except that Tokyo Ghoul isn’t an as good adaptation of the manga like Deadman Wonderland. The plot gets even more mysterious, and the characters are so amazing.
Well, in the end, it’ll give you an amazing experience in just 12 episodes, and thus, we brought it to the list of anime like Tokyo Ghoul.
Manga like Tokyo Ghoul!
1. Devil’s Line
Tsukasa is a college student who lives in a world where vampires live among humans, and unknowingly, she gets closer to Shouta Akimura, who is a vampire himself. Although Shouta controls his bloodlust, he may lose it in extreme conditions.

I love how the title perfectly suits the manga and have to say its premise is intriguing. Although the story takes a turn halfway through, it gets better later. So, if there was a moment where you found it boring, give it some time.
Since you’re looking for a manga like Tokyo Ghoul, you’re bound to find this one similar. At least, that’s what the premise is all about.
3. Ajin: Demi-Human
Kei Nagai is a high school student who lives in a world where demi-humans referred to as “Ajin” are feared over the world. In a traffic accident, Kei dies and revives in an instant only to realize that he is one of them, Ajin.
The world doesn’t see him as before anymore and now, he has to live a life by escaping from the clutches of government. His survival is only ensured if he joins a group containing demi-humans.
Ajin: Demi-Human manga is pretty much an underrated one to state the fact. It comes with a rather surprising and rare storyline to make the reader anxious the whole time.
So, if you’re looking for a manga like Tokyo Ghoul, Ajin: Demi-Human is a pretty good choice you can choose.
The story follows Osamu Hirota, who prefers to lead a normal life instead of dreaming about a fantasy world. But one day, he can’t live his normal life anymore thanks to Miwako, a vampire woman.
Now he has turned into a vampire, and to survive, he needs to hunt people and drink their blood to take a human form. Can he live his life this way anymore?
This manga gets pretty gore right from the beginning, and it has spectacular art. For the people who love horror manga like Tokyo Ghoul, this is going to be a terrific ride.
It hooks you up right from the first chapter and never lets you down. It might be what you’re looking for since it covers gore, ecchi, and psychological themes.
5. Dawn: Tsumetai Te
The story follows Nagasawa Takashi, who gets attacked by a mysterious rat and becomes the victim of a new disease known as “Nightshift.” He kills a serial killer on a night with this disease and realizes that something is strange with his body.
Sooner he gets to a conclusion that Nightshift disease affects people’s DNA and turns them into mindless zombies. His disease cannot be cured, and he’s turning into a monster. What will he do?
Dawn: Tsumetai Te is one of the most suspenseful manga I’ve read, and I’m sure you’ll have a blast with it. Since the main character acts as the medium between the living and the dead, we can consider him as a similar MC to Kaneki.
Well, if there aren’t that many similarities to Tokyo Ghoul, you shouldn’t be skipping this intriguing and exciting manga.
