“This article may have spoilers, so read it only if you have seen these anime.”
We watch tons of anime in our life, and even though we can’t remember every moment accurately, there are some characters which we can never forget even though they are fictional.
Some die protecting and giving hope to a new era like Whitebeard and Oden from One Piece.
Some take the whole burden and hate like Lelouch and Itachi. Either way, they’re forever remembered as unforgettable characters.
So, in this article, we’ll elaborate on some of the best anime characters you should know.
Best Anime Characters!
11. Ichirou Inuyashiki (Inuyashiki: The Last Hero)
This kind old man is on the list for a reason. Having a life where even his family didn’t care much about him and later getting superpowers would be a villain’s backstory.
Even if he didn’t gain a thing in return, Ichirou Inuyashiki helped lots of people and, in the end, even sacrificed his own life to save the world.
Honestly, I have a thing for the anime characters who sacrifice their lives to save the world. When I watched Inuyashiki anime’s ending, I was pretty much shocked, and this grandpa has become my favorite character in the anime.
His sacrifice, kindness, and innocence will be remembered forever in the hearts of anime viewers. Thus, Ichirou Inuyashiki is one of my favorite and best anime characters.
10. Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
Zoro is one of the prominent characters in One Piece. His loyalty knows no ends, and even though he didn’t seem friendly initially, he went to such lengths to save his crew.
During the Thriller Bark arc, Zoro has taken the pain of Luffy by the power of Kuma. That moment was seriously epic, and literally, every viewer would become a fan of his.
I love how he sees Luffy as more than just a captain and even dared to give up on his dream and die. Probably Luffy would have done the same for him, but Oda doesn’t want that.
Zoro is a pure badass, and even without a devil fruit, we have seen how far he has come from a mere bounty hunter. So, he definitely deserves a spot on the list.
9. Kise Ryouta (Kuroko’s Basketball)
You’ve seen it right. It is Kise from Kuroko no Basketball anime. But why is he on the list? I have watched all the adaptations of this anime and, in fact, twice.
The way Kise is different from every other player makes him my favorite character in the anime. Even after reaching his limits, he used “Perfect Copy” to unbelievable lengths.
The match against Seirin in the semi-finals will be marked as one of the best matches, and it was possible by a single person: Kise.
He is born with gifted talent, but except with basketball, he doesn’t give it his all in other games. That tells how much basketball means to him, and he’s one of the best anime characters you’ll ever come across.
8. All Might (My Hero Academia)
Who doesn’t love All Might from My Hero Academia? He has become the symbol of peace for the people even though he couldn’t maintain his superhero form for a long time.
Trusted a weak kid with a good heart and passed him his transferrable quirk. Even in critical times, he never backed down to take the enemy head-on.
The whole fight scene with All for One shows why All Might is the best hero of MHA. People often refer to him as the best dad because the way he takes care of Deku is truly beautiful.
He’s always cheerful, even when he has a painful past. Literally, every scene with All Might is inspiring and captivating. So, I think All Might is one of the best anime characters out there.
7. Eren Jaeger (Attack on Titan)
People who watched Attack on Titan would never agree with this, but everyone would simp Eren Yeager in the final season of the anime.
His character development is insane compared to the previous seasons. His decisions, the way he monopolized the paradise island and tried to fight alone, are truly exceptional.
Eren definitely goes as one of the best anime main characters in history, at least after the final season part 2. He completely gave up on his revenge path and made such a harsh decision.
He’s the reason why I loved the final season of AoT more than anything. So, if you haven’t seen Attack on Titan yet, you’re missing the best story and an unforgettable main character.
6. Gintoki Sakata (Gintama)
Gintoki is the best MC ever. You might not agree with this point, but you’ll know how well his character is portrayed if you have seen the anime.
He’s so funny, and you can never hate him. Gintoki is literally the reason for making my sleepless nights peaceful. A Gintama episode a day keeps sadness away, and the main reason is Gintoki.
Gintoki goes into the list of characters who are unforgettable forever. While most of the characters steal our hearts with sacrifices, this guy makes us smile all the time.
5. Mereum (Hunter x Hunter)
At first glance, Meruem is a cruel creature who even ate his mother. During the selection process, he even decided to kill millions of humans, but why can’t I hate him at all?
In fact, I cried when he died at the hands of Nettero. His relationship with Komugi was so beautiful, and I loved seeing them together.
This character is so beautifully written, and the character development is incredible. I applaud the writers for making me cry over a villain. Mereum truly deserved every ounce of happiness together with Komugi.
4. Itachi Uchiha (Naruto)
Who can possibly forget Itachi Uchiha? He is the best character in Naruto (or at least on equal terms with Kakashi or Madara), and even though we hate him initially, we’ll bawl our eyes out once his past is known.
If I were to revive a Naruto character so that they can live a peaceful life without a second thought, I would choose him.
Itachi is a strong character who wouldn’t lose to anyone easily, and even after getting reanimated by Kabuto, he saved Konoha. This guy deserves every ounce of respect and love we anime fans have.
So, Itachi is one of the best anime characters I’ve come across, and if you watch Naruto, you’ll agree with the statement as well.
3. Van Hohenheim (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
Here comes the best character in the anime “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.” Hohenheim suffered a heartbreaking death, in my opinion. He didn’t wish for immortality and also for half of Xerxes inside him.
He had to leave his family to protect them, and even after all the misunderstandings, he finally got Edward to call him “father.” But when he finally got a reason to live, he died.
He saved the whole of humanity in the anime, and if there is a reason why people cried in this anime, then definitely for his death.
It doesn’t matter if you hate him in Fullmetal Alchemist, but he goes down in the history of one of the legendary anime characters to ever exist from the brotherhood anime.
2. Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass)
“The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.” Just reading this quote reminds me of the greatest ending in anime history, that being Code Geass.
Lelouch is perhaps the most influential, if not one of the legendary anime characters to exist. To eliminate the hatred and injustice from the world, he has become the antagonist to the whole world.
Although it seems of a selfish deed to make a beautiful world for his sister Nunnally, it was the best option from his point of view, and whoever in his situation with the same motives would have done the same.
He is also one of the most brilliant anime characters like Light Yagami, L, etc. Lelouch truly deserves a life of his own where he can live peacefully with C.C and his sweet sister Nunnally.
1. Escanor (The Seven Deadly Sins)
“Who decided that?” I guess this one word is enough to describe how savage and epic character Escanor is. He lives up to his name “Lion’s Sin of Pride.”
If you remember his fight with Estarossa, his level of hubris, confidence, and power are unmatched. He’s the best character in the whole anime.
Sacrificing his own life force for the sake of his friends who have shown him the value of life is the greatest thing he has done. He fights any foe without fear and used sunshine repeatedly whenever people are in danger.
Escanor goes down as one of the greatest anime characters in anime history. He’s definitely one of my top 3 characters.
More Legendary Anime Characters:
- Guts (Exceptionally written character)
- Madara Uchiha (The Legend)
- Nettero (Overpowered and a respectable character)
- Edward Newgate, aka Whitebeard (A phenomenal character in One Piece)
- Miyazono Kaori (Damn, I love her so much)
- Light Yagami & L (can’t really choose one between them)
- Koro Sensei (I’m crying)
- Kozuki Oden (The best character from the Wano Arc)
Although anime is fictional and the characters are created from the imagination, we never see them as just characters but as someone so precious (like how Rem is special to me).
All of the characters mentioned above deserve respect and peaceful life if they can get one. So, what are your thoughts on our article? Feel free to let us know through the comment section below.
