With this, I’ll be reaching Level 100!” or “You’ve acquired a new skill- Devour.” Witnessing these types of moments in a light novel comes with immense pleasure. As you know, these can only be found in system novels.

So, we’ve compiled a list of system novels that might be able to suffice your taste. Make sure to read the complete article to get a clear picture and choose a good one from the list!

Best System Novels!

1. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint- best system novels

Kim-Dokja is a novel addict who spent his years reading novels and doing a job that isn’t much satisfying. His life was a living hell since childhood until he read the book “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World.”

All these days, it kept him alive, and one day, the whole world changed, according to the book. Only our main character knows what happens in the end. Everyone gets a system, and they had to participate in scenarios to survive.

Although leveling up concept is quite different in this light novel, it is pretty unique. The best selling point of the novel is its world-building and in my opinion, it is the best of all the ones I’ve read until now.

The main character is incredibly amazing, and the way he deals with situations puts you in a state of amazement. If you’re looking for system novels, then this one is right up your alley.

2. Sovereign of Judgement

Sovereign of Judgement- best system novels

Choi Hyuk used to be a fighting genius, but when he killed someone in his 6th grade, he promised his mother that he won’t be fighting anymore. All his school days were spent being bullied, and he still kept his word.

Unfortunately, a ring appeared out of nowhere in his classroom, and he is given two choices- to kill or to be killed. What will he choose?

Sovereign of Judgement is a combination of perfect world-buildinginteresting characters, and a decent premise. Especially the main character is a pure badass, and he never fails to amuse you.

The leveling system isn’t much unique from other light novels, but it got its share of impressiveness. So, if you’re looking for light novels with a level system and a revenge plot, then this one is for you.

3. Infinite Dendrogram

 Infinite Dendrogram- best system novels

The story follows a Full Dive VRMMO game named “Infinite Dendrogram,” which took over the entire world with its unique leveling system.

Mukudori Reiji, a university passed out student, enters the game when his brother invites, and soon a journey of adventures that vary reality from fantasy begins.

If you have a light novel with a VRMMO theme, then pretty much you can expect a decent level system. Luckily, we’ve got an amazing one here, and the translation of the novel is very convenient, even for new readers.

The interaction between the characters feels real, and with the pacing of the plot, you don’t have to worry about dropping the light novel at any point. After all, it is one of the best system novels or light novels with game system out there.

4. Everyone Else is a Returnee

Everyone Else is a Returnee- best system novels

Yu Ilhan is left out during his elementary school, middle school, and even when he was a high school student. Now when he finally became a university student and sadly left out by God and all of humanity.

He spends a millennium sharpening his skills for the Great Cataclysm, and when humanity finally meets the Cataclysm, he begins his journey to the alternate world.

Everyone Else is a Returnee is one of the best system novels out there for a reason. Its premise feels like a JP novel with all the harem and similar MC stuff. However, the situations our MC faces fit very well with the plot.

It does have some cons, like making an unreasonable harem at times, but since you’re here for a level system concept, you’re going to have a blast for sure.

5. The King of the Battlefield

The King of the Battlefield- system novels

The story follows Muyoung, an assassin who has been working to eliminate the only threat that is driving humanity to the brink of extinction. But after all these years, he failed to do it, and now he’s going to die.

But with a miracle, he is sent 40 years back in time and decides to protect humanity by defeating 72 demons of the Underworld. Can he succeed this time, or will he end up reaching the same fate?

Before you read this novel, keep one thing in your mind, The beginning chapters are crucial because, for this one, they set up a pretty good base. Later on, when the plot takes shape, you’ll love it more.

Some people say it is similar to Reincarnator because both start in a similar pattern, but I think it differs totally from the further chapters. Regardless, it is one of the best system novels or light novels with level system.

6. Only I Level Up

Only I Level Up- best system novels

The story sets in a world where dungeons connect to the world from other dimensions. Ten years have passed since then, and along with the monsters, people have awoken abilities known as “Hunters.”

Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank hunter who can barely hunt a low-level monster, risks his life to support his family. When he encounters a dual dungeon, he ends up becoming a chosen one, and you know, the epic journey begins.

You’re probably familiar with the name “Solo Leveling” than “Only I Level Up.” So, this light novel is pretty amazing with good translations, the best level system (at least for me), and also, a flawless pace of the story.

Although the climax isn’t quite what we expect, it’ll be one hell of a read if you’re into system novels or light novels with level system. Also, the main character is pretty badass and overpowered.

7. God and Devil World

God and Devil World- best system novels

In an instant, the world turned into an apocalypse overrun by zombies and mutated monsters. A few were left to survive and fight back against these monsters, but it won’t be that easy, right?

The protagonist Yue Zhong is one of the survivors, and he suddenly discovers a strange system that gives him “Exp” in return for killing the monsters. Thus begins an incredible and thriller journey of Yue Zhong, who seeks out the truth.

God and Devil World could’ve been one hell of a fabulous novel if it weren’t for some racism and sexism themes. If you can ignore these, then it will be one of the best apocalypse system novels you’ve ever read.

The main character is badass and overpowered, although some characters are really stupid. Overall, it’ll fit the criteria you’re looking for and a pretty good read too.

8. Advent of the Archmage

Advent of the Archmage- best system novels

Link is the best Archmage on the entire server, and when he defeats the strongest boss, he receives a mission from the God of Light.

Link is sent to the World of Firuman, and with his gaming abilities and level system, he should become the savior of the people for this world. But dark forces in this world are far more dangerous than the ones in the game.

You might drop this light novel a couple of times in the beginning, but we highly suggest you don’t. It isn’t like any normal Chinese or Wuxia novels at all.

If you’re looking for system novels or light novels with level system, then this one might be a good choice.

9. Dungeon Hunter

Dungeon Hunter- best system novels

The 72 demon kings participate in a game of Earth’s destruction, and the protagonist, A Earl Demon Lord, loses the first time. Later on, he is sent back in time, and this time, he’ll devour every demon king in his way.

Although the story feels a lot similar to some novels, including I Became the Demon Lord so I Created a DungeonDungeon Defense, the author did a magnificent job with the flow of the story and the level system.

The concept of dungeon usage is the best I’ve seen in any of the novels I’ve read. The plot makes you remember many other light novels, but at the same time feels pretty unique.

So, since you’re looking for system novels, this one definitely deserves to be on the list.

10. Overgeared

Overgeared- best system novels

Shin Youngwoo had an unfortunate life, and even after getting stuck in a VR game, he follows the same lifestyle. It all changes when he finds “Pagma’s Rare Book” while doing a quest in the Northern End Cave.

It might become one of the greatest web novels you will read if you get through the premise perfectly. Most light novels fail to execute the story as they progress over hundreds of chapters.

But in this one, it is not the case at all. You’ll be surprised as to how much the main character evolves from the first chapter, and it won’t be the first time you’ll be amazed either.

So, if you’re looking for light novels with level system, then you must read this one.

  1. Overgeared is the best one I have read so for. It’s awesome. It is very consistent and you get to know all the characters. It may seem long but it doesn’t feel long. There are lucky encounters or other lucky things but they don’t really feel like a “cheat” or a “plot armor”. You get to see the true lore and history of the world and the gods. Plot and the room for improvement is always there so you don’t feel like “is this it?” you feel like “I bet he will be even more OP if he keeps working hard”. I think everyone should read it. It’s magnificent.

    1. So true…unlike many novels which get rather bad after reaching a certain point, Overgeared does the exact opposite.

  2. I read Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and wanted to read more like it and this list was gold. I could not stop reading Overgeared once I got into it and I’ve started on Sovereign of Judgement. Thank you so much!

    1. I’m glad you found it helpful 🙂
