
Demon Slayer Mugen Train movie hasn’t been released in worldwide theatres yet but within Japan, it is ruling the box office. It was released on October 16, 2020, and has only been over a couple of months, but it is now officially the highest-grossing film in Japanese Box Office history.

With the latest adventure of Tanjiro and Rengoku, Demon Slayer movie shattered the box office records by surpassing Spirited Away. Spirited Away has been in the top for over 19 years now with a total grossing (Japan) of 31.68 ¥ billion. However, with the recent sensation, Mugen Train film surpassed it.
Currently, Mugen Train has a grossing of 32.48 ¥ billion and still going strong. It has managed to pull this achievement without even hitting the worldwide theatres. To be honest, everyone expected the movie would be a sensation after watching the teaser and trailer but this news is surely surprising.
Ario Tengen shared the news in his official twitter account about this achievement and he also told Mugen Train will show no signs of stopping any time soon. Here’s the tweet:
Demon Slayer Mugen Train movie might have surpassed Studio Ghibli with this movie, but Ghibli has been diligently working on two upcoming projects to take back the throne. Here are two projects:

- Earwig and the Witch by Goro Miyazaki
- How Do Yo Live by Miyao Hayazaki
With this news, the anime industry has been on a roll for a while now, and the movie is still going strong.
