Kaguya-sama Love is War

Kaguya-sama Love is War has been one of the most popular anime in recent times. Since the time of its release, it became much popular and also nominated and won a few awards at The 6th Anime Trending Awards. The title itself attracts the viewers and makes their time worthwhile. Well, what’s so special about it? Why is it so popular? Is it good or bad? Here’s why you shouldn’t miss it. Let’s begin then!

Kaguya-sama Love is War

Genre: Animation, Comedy, Romance.

IMDb: 8.0/10

“Kaguya-sama Love is War” is a Japanese manga series of seinen genre written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka. In May 2015, it began serializing in Shueisha‘s Miracle Jump, and then it was transferred to Weekly Young Jump in March 2016. A-1 pictures adapted it into an anime television series and aired it starting from January to March 2019. And a second season is set to premiere in April 2020.

Synopsis

“Student council president Miyuki Shirogne and vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya both seem to be made for each other. Kaguya is the daughter of a wealthy family, and Miyuki is the top student and well known for his perfection. Although they like each other, they are too proud to confess their love as whoever proposes first they would lose. The story follows their main schemes in which they try to manipulate the other person to confess their love.”

Plot

Kaguya-sama Love is War sure has some good plot, which is lovable by most of the teenage anime lovers. Because we know how we used to have a crush in our school days and still regret not proposing. This anime shows us the same situations where both like each other, yet they don’t confess their feelings. The way they paced it is fantastic and making of each episode is brilliant. In every episode, a situation takes place where one of them has to reveal their feelings to another person. And they handle every situation brilliantly. I think it is enough to make the storyline even more exciting.

Characters

The anime revolves around only a few characters, but it doesn’t disappoint you a bit. Both the main characters Kaguya and Shirogane, are exciting and become more lovable as you go through the episodes. Fujiwara is the best side character and the funniest and cutest character in the anime. Every minute of Fujiwara is like a gem in the anime. And Hayasaka, who won an award for the best supporting role at the 6th anime trending awards, is a sure entertaining character. And the characters like Ishigami gets funnier as the story moves forward. Characterization is, without a doubt, one of the best aspects of Kaguya-sama Love is War.

Music

This show has some chilling soundtracks and proper sort of Background score. The opening is entirely meaningful, and no matter how many times you listen, it will always seem lovely. And the background music justifies every scene, most importantly in funny scenes. It gives you the vibes of watching an old anime, which is another interesting aspect to look on. The endings are also great to listen to, and it might not have the best soundtracks, but they sure are lovely.

Animation

Kaguya-sama Love is War has beautiful animation with some unique visuals. Most of the anime in recent years has been focussing on the presentation of animation and visuals differently. And this anime is definitely one of them, and the character design is fantastic. The animation centers most on the characters rather than the surrounding visuals, which makes it even more lovable. The animation is one of the best aspects this show has, and you’ll love the way they portrayed each character differently.

Entertainment

Here we are about to discuss the most crucial aspect of Kaguya-sama Love is War. Honestly, I never had so much fun watching an anime in recent days. While the cuteness of Fujiwara makes you laugh, the perviness of Ishigami makes you roll on the floor. The innocent Kaguya, who used to be an introvert, makes you laugh in most of the instants. Not to mention the efforts of Shirogane for making Kaguya confess him. To be specific, The seventh episode is the one where you can’t stop yourself from slamming the floor. From the first episode to the final episode of the first season, entertainment plays a critical role.

Emotional Appeal

Until the final episode of the first season, it doesn’t connect you much emotionally. But there are some scenes which seem a bit sentimental like Kaguya being not able to enjoy like ordinary people since she is from a royal family and the ending is breathtaking.

Even though most of the show focuses on entertaining the viewers with its brilliance, it did care for other aspects such as Romance, Love, and Emotional attachment. But only to a certain extent. With all these significant aspects, Kaguya-sama Love is War has been a great watch, and I think you’ll love it for sure if you give it a try.
