Mob Psycho 100 Anime Review: 5 Reasons Why It Is a Crazy Anime!

Mob Psycho 100 anime review

Mob Psycho 100 is the most recent addition to my favorites list, but it deserves more than its place. Mob Psycho 100 is created by ONE, who wrote and drew the well-known One-Punch Man, with which you may be more familiar.

While structurally very similar to One Punch Man, Mob Psycho uses its setting and cast of characters to convey a very different message.

Mob Psycho 100 is an excellent anime because it is action-packed and entertaining. It could take a few episodes to adjust to the animation style. However, it is a must-see for all anime fans. This is one of the anime with overpowered protagonists and epic fighting scenes throughout the series. Let’s know more about it in our Mob Psycho 100 anime review.

Engaging Storyline With No Complicated Involvements!

The plot of Mob Psycho 100 is straightforward, but explores a wide range of complex human emotions. It follows an emotionless guy, Kageyama Shigeo (a.k.a. Mob), a middle school student who also happens to be an Esper with psychic abilities.

However, he is powerful; he views his abilities as a curse rather than a blessing and thus avoids using them. His uncanny luck puts him in dangerous situations, forcing him to use them and disrupt his desired everyday life.

The story is a simple yet effective formula that keeps the audience engaged and entertained.

Characters Carry the Show!

Mob Psycho 100 Anime Review!

The characters are my favorite aspect of this anime. I’d go over the ones I like the best because I’d bore you if I went over them all.

The main protagonist, Mob, is fascinating to watch. His simple outlook on life makes him believe that his psychic abilities are useless, and he has no desire to use them to harm others.

Even though he is immensely overpowered, Mob starts emotionally weak and delicate and, thus, has a lot of room to grow.

Arataka Reigen is, undoubtedly, one of my favorite personality types. His manipulation skills were visible to the viewers, but not those around him. He’s so stupid he’s clever, frequently falling for his lies and delusions. Even when he makes mistakes, it is all for the greater good.

Finally, I’d like to discuss Teruki Hanazawa. This snotty brat. Tsk becomes smug because he is unaware of his true power. He makes use of his abilities for material and social gain. That never works out, as we all know.

Then he met Mob, or, more accurately, the feral warrior he harbors within. He was shown power he was unaware of but needed to know. He appeared to have changed entirely after his fight with Mob. His new wig is a tribute to his former self. I admire a person who can take his licks and learn from them.

Engrossing Fights and Lots of Action

Mob Psycho 100 Anime Review!

What would an Esper story be without some psychic combat? This series’ fighting animations are fantastic. The best parts of Mob Psycho 100’s animation are displayed in its intense and engaging fight scenes (also some “exorcisms” performed by Reigen), especially between Esper.

One of the fights that stood out to me was the one between Mob and Teru, when Mob lost consciousness and entered the “????% mode” (not going to give you spoilers).  The fight ensuing from the massive destruction resulted in a breathtaking animation.

The fighting scenes are comparable to those seen in Dragon Ball Z and other top-tier anime. As well as a lot of wreckage in the fight scenes, as the characters break down buildings and other things like a piece of cake.

Moreover, each psychic character in this series has a distinct power that distinguishes them from one another. Many characters use Pyrokinesis, Geokinesis, Hydrokinesis, and other forms of Telekinesis. Overall, this anime is an excellent fit for the genre of Shōnen anime.

It’s Quite Humorous

Aside from the fighting scenes, this anime has a good mix of funny moments. Watching an overpowered character struggle with activities that even an ordinary person can do easily is entertaining.

Mob Psycho 100 is based on a series written by ONE, the author of One Punch Man, and contains many scenes that will make you laugh out loud. The humor can be found in the recurring themes, such as the idea that the different schools in Seasoning City are named after different condiments.

When it comes to the comedy scenes, the main focus is on the character Arataka Reigen. Not only are his moves hilarious, but he also uses them to control the Mob and keep him under control.

The fact that he acts tough in front of demons he is terrified of to look tough in the eyes of Mob is amusing and hilarious. The expression of the character is also significant in the anime’s funny moments.

New Animation Style

Many animation companies and manga artists try to distinguish themselves by using a different style of animation or drawing. The beginning of the anime might feel like it has low-quality animation due to the lack of intricate detailing, gradients, and shadings.

The proportion of the eyes, nose, and the rest of the face may also feel off. However, many anime fans enjoyed this animation, particularly the fight scenes, since this anime has some of the most vivid and colorful visual fights. This is an excellent option if you want a change of pace from the typical type of animation.

There Is Much More to It Than It Appears

People watch anime for various reasons; some enjoy it as a form of casual entertainment, while others hope to learn something from the shows they watch.

Mob Psycho 100 is an anime that manages to bring up specific human issues while also sending a message to those who watch it. Character interactions create moments that can hit home and inspire some serious self-reflection.

The most recurring theme in Mob Psycho 100 is that some people enjoy elevating themselves above others and believing they are superior to them.

Mob attempts to portray himself as the opposite of every other character; he does not feel special because he is an Esper, and tries to live a life that relies as little as possible on his abilities because doing so will make him just like everyone else.
