Rurouni Kenshin anime might not be one of the best Samurai anime (at least not on your top 5 list), but the live-action movies are far from splendid. Everything was done right in these adaptations.
So, if you’re wondering whether the movies are worth watching or a guide to Rurouni Kenshin movies in order, we have the perfect article written for you.
Rurouni Kenshin Movies in Order + Reviews!
1. Rurouni Kenshin Part I: Origins (2012)

Part I: Origins is where it all began (at least according to the released movies). We see how Himura Kenshin vowed not to kill anyone again and yet strives for what he feels is right.
The action was over the top, and the stunts were astonishing. The ost hits right in the feels whenever there is going to be a fight scene, and every aspect is honed to perfection.
2. Rurouni Kenshin Part II: Kyoto Inferno (2014)

Following Part I, Kyoto Inferno introduces a terrific villain, “Shishio.” Even though Himura seems formidable with every opponent he faced until now, we see a weak side of him in this part.
The ending gave me chills, and even though they reused the ost, we can’t get used to it at all as every time it plays, we can get goosebumps. The action scenes and the plot were solid, and it is a must-watch.
3. Rurouni Kenshin Part III: The Legend Ends (2014)

I don’t know whether the title is meant for “Shishio” or “Himura” because both of them are exceptional compared to any other character in the movie. The characters killed their roles with action and acting.
The ending scene also shows how respectful warriors are Samurai, and even though I felt this movie was a little below my expectations, I wasn’t disappointed in the least bit. It was stunningly incredible with choreography and visuals.
4. Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter Part I (2021)

After 7 long years, Rurouni Kenshin’s live-action adaptation has reappeared again with Final Chapter Part I. I had some great expectations about this movie but guess what, It wasn’t disappointing.
Although there is less action than the previous movies, the ending fight scenes were masterfully crafted, and it explores a bit about Kenshin’s past. It was a bittersweet movie with some quality action.
5. Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter Part II (2021)

Also titled “Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning,” it portrays the real Battousai, the Killing Machine. Apart from the second movie, this one is also my favorite and not just because of action.
The story felt so hear touching, and you’ll fall in love with Tomoe’s character. So, once you’re done watching all four movies, this one will give you a great parting experience from the franchise.
Conclusive Thoughts!
So, This is the order of Rurouni Kenshin’s live-action movies you should be following before actually watching them. Every film produced by the franchise is effortful, and they turned out to be masterpieces.
There are no live-action anime movies done as well as these ones, and if you’re thinking of watching them, just do it. If you have any queries regarding the watch order or review, feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
