violet evergarden

Violet Evergarden is one of the few anime series that can move any individual to tears. If you’re a lover of short anime or you love watching short anime for its depth in the very few episodes, then you did hear about this anime. What’s so special about it?

Isn’t it like a typical emotional anime? It differs in many ways from the other anime series. Out of all viewers, some feel emotional, and some don’t, it’s because only a few can handle the pain of watching emotional scenes. But even those people are exceptions for Violet Evergarden. There are a few reasons why Violet Evergarden is an exception from those series. Alright then, Let’s get started.

Violet Evergarden

Genre: Animation, Drama, Fantasy.

IMDb: 8.4/10.

VioletEvergarden is a Japanese novel light series written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. The original run of the novel is from December 25, 2015, to March 23, 2018. A 13-episode television series Adaption by Kyoto Animation aired between January and April 2018.

Synopsis

In the aftermath of a great war, Violet Evergarden, a young female ex-soldier, gets a job at a writer’s agency and goes on assignments to write letters that can connect two people. But she finds it hard since she is not familiar with human feelings. However, one word that Major Gilbert said to Violet drives her to find out what emotions are! And the final words of Major Gilbert are “I Love You Violet Evergarden!”

Plot

The story follows the Violet Evergarden, who wakes up in a hospital after the war that she fought as a soldier. With the final words of Major Gilbert, Violet becomes an Auto memory doll, who writes letters that connect people. Since the way Violet has grown since her childhood, she is not able to write the letters with filled feelings and emotions. However, the words of Gilbert give her life a purpose to live, and she moves forward in her life, hoping that she finds what the words “I Love You” really mean.

Characters

Most of the anime focuses on Violet, on how she became a soldier and how her life changed ever since the war. From being a doll to becoming an auto memory doll, it shows how beautifully a character can develop. At the end of the series, everyone falls for Violet for her beautiful personality and innocence. Character development is one of the best aspects this show can have.

Animation

In my opinion, this show has the best animation to date. Notably, the main character Violet is visually beautiful and too likable. Kyoto Animation has done a Splendid job with visuals and art. It shows how much effort they put into designing each character. They deserve most of the credit for making it one of the best and beautiful shows. After watching this show, besides being speechless, everyone praises its animation quality and deepness. The animation is the best aspect this show can ever have.

Music

The music in the whole series is a bit heavy to take. Because, most of its background music connects the viewer at emotional scenes, talking of which, every episode is an emotion for the sensitive hearts like us.

The one soundtrack that’ll make you listen repeatedly is Sincerely by ‘TRUE.’ And it is the opening of anime while ending ‘Michishirube’ by Minori Chihara is a pleasant one.

The music is soothing throughout the series, and you’ll love it for sure, after all, who wouldn’t love such amazing soundtracks and visuals from the anime.

Emotional Appeal

Well, I’m Speechless. Because, when you watch the series, you might think that you’re not sensitive, and it can’t make you cry. But eventually, you’ll find yourself immersed in a pool of tears. One way or another, this show gets the best crybaby out of you. Don’t feel like I’m overhyping the show; it deserves the praise. At least that’s what I think! Let’s think my words couldn’t convince you about the show being Overemotional. But I guess these passionate quotes might get you.

“No letter that could be sent deserves to go undelivered.” – Violet Evergarden

“Thank you for making my dream come true. Thank you. I feel as though I’ve witnessed a miracle. I do not believe there is a god, but if there is, surely it must be you.” – Oscar Webster

“You’re going to learn a lot of things, but it might be easier to keep living if you didn’t learn them if you didn’t know them. You don’t realize your body is on fire and burning up because of the things you did. You’ll understand one day. And then you’ll realize for the first time that you have many burns.” – Claudia Hodgins

Every dialogue from the above is itself an example of how deep the show can be! Let’s say you do like these quotes, and you don’t know what to do with your life. With the show being perfect, there is a sequel movie, which is a must-watch one.
