12. Mirai
Kun is a four-year-old kid who didn’t appreciate the love of his family because they were always busy with work, and after he gets a little sister named Mirai, it gets worse.
While it continues, one day, he meets his family members’ past and future selves through time travel and begins to understand their struggles. Will he understand his family now? And why did Mirai come from the future?
If you’re looking for a good anime film to watch with your family, this might be the best one you can find today. It perfectly focuses on the things like parental attention, relations, and responsibilities.
Although if you’re like Kun from the anime, you might find this anime more relatable, it might bring you sorrow. Regardless, it’s an excellent film to watch if you’re looking for something to fill your boredom.
11. Mary and the Witch’s Flower
Clumsy girl Mary Smith lives with her Aunt and finds this new home rather boring. However, one day, a cat sparks her interest, and following it, she discovers a magical flower and a broomstick in the woods.
The broomstick takes her to Endor College, a place where witches study. Mary gets mistaken as a student, and now she must learn to look after herself, and the academy doesn’t seem to appear the same as it has been.
This anime movie is on par with the standards of classic Ghibli Studio anime movies. At least with the animation and the storyline but of course, it couldn’t pack a punch as Miyazaki movies.
10. Lu Over the Wall
Kai lives in Hinashi Town and has had a lonely life ever since he was a child. He has trouble telling how he feels even to his parents but enjoys uploading the songs he wrote on the internet.
When two of his friends invite him to join their band, and together they go to Merfolk Island, where they usually practice. Then he meets Lu, a mermaid girl who has a beautiful voice. How will his life change from now on?
To be honest, the trailer for this anime film does no justice at all. The only way to describe it would be by expressing how joyful and beautiful it felt. It feels somewhat sulky at the beginning, but you just have to wait.
Once the character Lu enters the story, it will turn into an absolute joyride. If you miss your childhood and want to reminiscence it, this anime movie is definitely for you.
9. A Whisker Away
Miyo is an energetic girl even though she suffers from her stepmother, who doesn’t care about her. But seeing Kento Hinode relieves her mind, and she also has a crush on him.
Somehow, she turns into a white cat and gets close to Kento. But after viewing his life in person, she gets into a tough situation. Will she help him by revealing her true self?
This anime is just fascinating. Every minute of it is worth it, and I wonder how its animation can be simple yet so beautiful? If you can take your time and observe the music, you can feel the true essence of the anime.
If you want a cute romance or a strong female lead (which we rarely get to see), this anime is a must-watch for you.
8. Expelled from Paradise
Humanity has relocated its consciousness into a digital world known as DEVA in the far future because of a massive disaster on earth. But soon, a hacker named Frontier Setter infiltrates the system and disturbs the peace.
One of the security system officers named Angela Balzac is sent to earth by taking the form of the human through a cloned body to track down the hacker. What truth awaits outside the paradise?
Probably you’d need a bit fresh mind to completely appreciate this anime because even though there aren’t many complications in the story, the first twenty minutes might not be able to spark interest in you.
The 3D CGI was spot on, the sound was fantastic, and the characters are simply splendid. If you want a unique concept with insane animation, this one is a must-watch for you.
7. Porco Rosso
Marco Paggot’s face was transferred into a pig because of a curse, and being an ace in World War I, he decides to fly in the air and hunt down the sky pirates.
But when he encounters a young American pilot named Donald Curtis, his plane gets wreck. Later on, Marco finds a seventeen-year-old kid who has a talent for fixing airplanes, and together they rechallenge Donald.
Porco Rosso is a simple story that sounds like an old-school story, but it is one of the most underrated Ghibli films. I’ve enjoyed it as much as I did with Spirited Away and How’s Moving Castle.
It has gorgeous animation (what would you expect from Miyazaki?), and even though the story isn’t what you’d expect, it would never feel you bored instead keeps you entertained till the end.
6. The Garden of Words
On one rainy day, Takao skips the school to sketch some beautiful designs in a garden. There he meets a beautiful woman named Yukari Yukino, and from this moment, he meets her every day.
Without even realizing it, they both feel comfortable with each other. But their life struggles remain, and by the end of the rainy season, their relationship isn’t the same.
Behold to witness one of Makoto Shinkai’s gems. While it’s true that this anime is a romance drama, there is something special about it. It is touching, heartwarming, and definitely pulls your heartstrings.
My words might not convey the true self of this anime film, but I’m pretty sure you should watch this anime if you haven’t yet.
5. The Anthem of The Heart
Jun Naruse is a happy girl who used to be a chatterbox, but her words shattered the family by revealing her father’s affair. Afraid of ruining people’s lives, her regrets soon manifest into a fairy egg that seals her mouth.
Now in high school, she couldn’t interact with anyone because of this curse. Unexpectedly, she gets chosen as a music member alongside others. But it seems that this curse doesn’t apply to singing.
Just from the synopsis, you can pretty much tell that this is a quality anime. The animation, sweet and cute moments reminds me of Anohana anime a lot.
I can’t say it will be the best anime you’ll watch, but it definitely becomes one of them. So, if you’re on a hunt for a good Netflix anime movie, this one might fit your taste.
4. Whisper of the Heart
Shizuku is an energetic girl with a passion for literature. One day she meets a cat on the train and follows it since it felt somewhat exciting and ends up at an antique shop.
There she is told an enchanting story about the golden statue known as “The Baron.” Soon she befriends Seiji, the shop owner, and they try to fulfil their dreams together.
Whisper of the Heart is s beautiful story and just as inspiring as Miyazaki’s other movies. You’ll cry while watching this movie but not because it’s sad but because it fills you in with so many emotions.

3. I Want to Eat Your Pancreas
Haruki Shiga is an anti-social guy who has zero interest in others. But one day, he happens to find a diary of his classmate Sakura Yamauchi in a hospital. It seems that she’s been suffering from a terminal illness and only have few days to live.
Although Shiga doesn’t show any sympathy to her initially, he soon ends up accompanying her for the remaining days. Despite their opposite personalities, can he learn about the true meaning of life?
Make sure to grab a couple of boxes of tissues before you watch this anime because a single box isn’t enough. It makes you happy, sad and lets you have a few good laughs, but you’ll know what’s coming.
You’ll probably want to watch it again and shed a few tears, and trust me, it’s completely fine. So, if you’re going to catch up on a beautiful and heartbreaking anime on Netflix, watch it.
2. In This Corner of the World
The story follows a young girl named Suzu who has spent her entire childhood peacefully in Hiroshima. But when she comes to age, she gets married to an unknown man in a nearby city, Kube.
Living with a new family, Suzu struggles to adjust to the new environment, and to make it worse; it is the time of world war. How will she find happiness in this world where her cherished lives may lose?
Just a tip: make sure to grab a box of tissues just in case. The story is so amazing, and it makes you emotional more times than you can count.
It’s sad, happy, funny, and more than anything, it’s such a heartfelt anime. These types of anime movies are pretty rare, and if you haven’t watched it yet, now’s the time.

Shouko Nishimiya transfers to a new middle school only to get bullied by her classmates for being deaf. Especially, Shouya Ishida bullies her too much, and she had to move out of school.
Soon, Ishida becomes an outcast from the class, and he learns his mistake. But it is too late to seek forgiveness. After a few years, he meets Nishimiya again, and this time can he get redemption?
Probably the only word that’s suitable for this anime would be “realistic.” Seriously, most of us have faced bullying at least once in our lives, and this anime portrays it splendidly.
The consequences you face and how you won’t be able to live a happy life. Everything in this anime is too realistic, and we got to appreciate those beautiful visuals from Kyoto Animation.
