The Japan Academy Film Prize Association announced the nominees for the annual awards of 2020 on January 15. As we know, the final hope for Shinkai was the animated film category. However, on December 5, 2019, Weathering With You was cut-off from its Oscar-qualifying run with the hope of being nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film. But with the nomination of Weathering With You in Japan Academy Awards made the fans a bit happy.
Radwimps, the band that composed the music and performed the songs for the film Weathering With You, are nominated in “Music of the Year” award. Even though it isn’t a complete achievement for Makoto Shinkai, at least it can cheer the audience and as well as him to continue his amazing works.

Every year the Japanese Academy Awards will be presented by The Nippon Academy-Sho Association. The all nominated movies receive ” Awards of Excellence” but the winners of each category will receive their awards in a ceremony on March 1 at Grand Prince Hotel in Tokyo.
