Will Jujutsu Kaisen Join Shonen Jump’s Big 3?

Ever since the adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen, there have been numerous opinions on it. Some people say that it will become the best anime to come in this decade and some even compare it to the anime of Big 3 like One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. So, the question is will it really live up to the audience’s expectations?

From the past nine episodes, we can tell that Jujutsu Kaisen has a lot of elements resembling the old shounen hits and the adaptation is excellent. And since Bleach’s manga has ended, there has been a ruckus in the anime fandom about anime like Black Clover, My Hero Academia, and Demon Slayer might take its place. However, the latter is now off the competition, and Black Clover seems to have more popularity than its actual worth.

On the other hand, Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga has always been a top contender in recent years. Its manga is incredibly successful both commercially and critically. And with the latest adaptation, these assumptions might actually come true. Though My Hero Academia has a greater chance to take the spot, considering this adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen, it might not happen.

Why Jujutsu Kaisen can make it to Shounen Jump’s Big 3?

The simple and one-word answer to the above question is “Classic Reminiscent.” It resembles the classics of the 90s like Yu Yu Hakusho, Tite Kubo and fills the void left by Bleach. With the perfect setting of Dark Fantasy and Horror, it stands apart from the ones you’ve seen so far.

If you compare it to other superhero premises like My Hero Academia, One Punch Man which haven’t been able to show a good character development yet, you can find another reason for it to be Shounen’s Big Three. This anime is more like a modern generation Naruto and in terms of screenplay, it even competes with One Piece.

So far, this anime adaptation has been amazing, and MAPPA Studio has done a tremendous job in accentuating the action sequences. Perhaps this might be the reason why Jujutsu Kaisen stole the spotlight so quickly, and why people love it so much that they even consider it as the next shounen jump’s big three.
