I’ve read and watched more than a few Chinese anime and novels. Still, Soul Land is my favorite anime/manhua, and light novels are pretty amazing too.
I’ve always admired Chinese animation and how unique it is from Japanese animation. Since I’m used to watching Japanese anime, this one felt unique.
The story is one of the strongest selling points, and action scenes are off the charts.
If you’re thinking of getting into the Douluo Dalu franchise, make sure to read novels and watch the anime.
In the end, it is worth giving a shot, and even if you haven’t seen/read any Chinese ones before, this one will be a welcoming ride for you.
Notes:
1. In Douluo Dalu light novels, you find some .5 versions such as 2.5 and 3.5. Although most people ignore them, thinking as stories, we think they’re necessary to read.
2. In a sense, 2.5 builds up the character and shows you how things will lead onto part 3. So, we suggest you read this side story as well.
3. As for 3.5, it isn’t really necessary, but if you love the author’s work on the previous chapters, then you might also like it.
